Sean Newsum, director of Environmental Strategy at Boeing Commercial Airplanes, leads a team that addresses key industry-wide environmental issues including aircraft emissions and community noise reduction, sustainable biofuel development and other opportunities to enhance environmental performance.

Newsum is responsible for developing an integrated strategy to ensure that products and services are aligned with the company’s environmental performance objectives. Amongst his responsibilities are representing Boeing with key industry associations and stakeholders including the International Civil Aerospace Organization’s Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection.

Prior to his current assignment, Newsum held positions at Commercial Airplanes with increasing responsibility in program management, marketing and business development. He also has expertise in information services-related businesses including Airplane Health Management, Connexion by Boeing in-flight Internet and Electronic Flight Bag. He began his career at Boeing working in Noise Engineering on 737, 757 and 777 product development.

A native of Washington State, Sean has a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Washington.
