Soffia Alarcon-Diaz currently serves a Director of Climate Change Mitigation Policy at Mexico’s Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT), where she is responsible for the design and operation of the National Emissions Register. She also supports the design and implementation of mitigation policies established in the National Climate Change Strategy, Special Climate Change Program and the State-Level Climate Change Programs.

Before joining SEMARNAT, she worked as a fellow at the World Resources Institute (WRI) where she supported the elaboration of a working paper on the linkages between national and corporate GHG inventories. She also developed case studies associated with executing a national GHG inventory in developing countries.

She holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from Columbia University and has a bachelor in International Relations from El Colegio de Mexico.
